How the proposed schedule is worked out
What it never changes
Order ready-by dates, customer deliver-by promises and delivery dates stay the same. The proposal only assigns production steps to people and working days. It cannot invent extra working time to hide a shortage.
Order in which jobs are placed
- Jobs for orders on locked delivery routes
- Then jobs on confirmed routes
- Then jobs Rob has raised in priority
- Then earlier ready-by, then order number
An order on a locked or confirmed route takes priority. Raising another job can leave less time for other orders, even ones due earlier. Review the named jobs that still cannot be placed.
How each job is placed
Work already in progress stays with the same person. Near-term assignments in the accepted plan stay in place. Starting from the quality-check ready-by date, the system works backwards through the required steps. It checks who can do each job and counts each person's available working minutes only once, even if they have several skills. The next step starts at least 1 working day after the step it needs. (gap between steps, set on Assumptions as A3); finished goods can only wait for a limited time.
When it cannot fit
If a required step cannot fit, the job and its remaining steps stay unplaced. The proposal names each job, its reason and its ready-by date. You must acknowledge those jobs before accepting. No delivery date moves to make the work fit.
Limits
This is a practical rule-based proposal, not a guarantee of the best possible schedule. Production works towards its ready-by date. The customer's deliver-by promise is checked when a delivery route is assigned in Transport, not by production planning.
